Q) The web sites states July 30 thru August 1, but the Alexis registration form says July 27 thru August 3. How long is the actual event? Are things going on before and after the official event that I should consider being attending?

A) The event itself starts on Friday, July 30th and runs till Sunday, August 1st. Things do go on before Defcon starts, but they are not official events, and unless you are cool, people won't want you to be there. If you get in on Tuesday, July 27th you will probably start seeing groups of defconities around the pool (specifically pool #2). Another reason the dates are longer, is because people going to Black and Defcon can stay at the Alexis Park.

Q) What are the age requirements of attendees?

A) Any Age if fine, but understand that this event is not meant for children. Luckily the AP is a non-Gambling Casino, so 18 year olds can get a room. However, if you are under that age, make sure you talk to your parents about it, since NO-ONE there will take responsibility for you.

Q) What is the Cost of a room at the Alexis Park?

A) It's best to call them for their current rates, as it has been proven that registering on the websites doesn't guarantee you a room.

Q) Why are the room rates at the Alexis Park higher this year?

A) They're a business: when it comes down to it, it's about the almighty dollar. Prices go up (see: inflation), suck it up and walk it off.

Q) Where do I get food other than the AP?

A) Take a walk, there are a number of nice food establishments around the area as well as supermarkets.

Q) Around how much ($$$) should I bring if I want to have a decent time at Defcon?

A) Spending Money (not including room): Should be $80 for the badge. Money for food, alcohol and Swag You can squeeze by with $200. Less if you budget really well.

Q) How long does it take to get a cab to the airport?

A) Cabs usually sit at the airport, so you should be able to walk out and get a cab at the airport. If you are going from the AP to the airport on your way home, it takes 4 hours hangover time. For Taxi Rates check out: http://www.smartpages.com/cityguides/nv/vegas/trans.jhtml

Q) How do I reserve my room at the Alexis Park (AP) a year in advance?
