Q) How much does the Defcon pass cost, what is the pass good for (like number of days)?


A) Currently the Defcon Pass is Eighty Dollars ($80 USD). The Pass is good for the three days of the con and allows you access to the Speakers, Vendor Area and the ability to walk around the hotel without getting hassled.

Q) Is there a way to pre-register for the event or is it first come first serve?


A) There is no pre-registration. Registration is on site and only CASH is accepted. Grifter says: "You won't be turned away. If you come, you get in."

Q) What do I get for 80$USD?


A) Access to the Event, A cool badge, a printed program, the right to buy overpriced snack food and drinks, and multiple opportunities to be pushed into the pool.

Q) Why is it $80 this year?

A) The Five Extra Dollars are what they use to give a Kick Back to the Hutt Crime Syndicate. And so TW doesn't have to make change.

Q) What do all the different badges mean?


A) The Different Badges are you different Standing in the Defcon Hierarchy. Goons, Press, Humans...

Q) How do I get a press Pass? What's included with a Press Pass?

Q) Is Defcon indoors or outdoors?


A) Defcon is Both indoors and Outdoors.

Q) How long do I have to wait at the damned check in line? Why are people cutting in front of me?


A) You have to wait as long as it takes. People are cutting in front of you because they are cooler then you and this is not their first year coming.

Q) Where are all the bathrooms located at Defcon?


A) Ask the front desk for a Map.

Q) Why isn't there a roof tent this year?


A) Do to some trouble fire code issues the roof tent had to disappear.

Q) What is parking like at Defcon?


A) Pre-Con (Before it starts) parking is usually fine. During the event parking is a horrid situation. This is because of all the people who stay at other hotels/live in the area and drive to Defcon each day.

Q) Do we have a prayer service on Sunday morning?


A) Only if you're a member of the church of WiFi.

Q) What is Hacker Jeopardy?


A) Hacker Jeopardy is more than just a game. It's the late night event with a guaranteed good time for all at the con. The questions are a bit different from the TV version and the contestants are definitely a lot different. Both may range from technically challenging to comically bizarre. It's a lot more like the SNL version of Jeopardy then the real TV show itself.

Q) What are the channels for Defcon TV? Why doesn't someone press play when the DVD is just sitting there? Why are all the channels blue?


A) If you would like to recommend a movie head over to: http://www.defcontv.org Someone doesn't press play because they are busy doing other things. The channels are blue because you didn't buy a pair of secret tv-glasses from Grifter. The channel for DefconTV is 29.

Q) How do I spot the fed? Who do I tell?


A) If you believe someone is a Fed, tell Priest. Then the alleged fed will be approach and asked a serious of questions to find out if he is indeed one of big brothers children. If he turns out to be a fed, you and he both get a shirt after he gets some razzing. If he isn't, you just look like a loser and people mock you.

Q) What is the Defcon Scavenger hunt?


A) The Defcon Scavenger Hunt is a competition held every year at Defcon to see who can 'hack' their way to get the most odd items within 3 days. Simply put, it's a Scavenger Hunt Defcon style. Not only does it involve getting a hold of the most unique items such as a cow's head, candles shaped like penises, or even uranium (tested on site), but it also involves completing tasks making your stay at Defcon all that much more fun (our's also).

Q) What is CTF? What is Root-Fu?


A) "RootFu! Gives competitors a chance to demonstrate their prowess at building and defending their own network infrastructure, while taking full advantage of weaknesses in the networks of competing teams. RootFu! is the descendant of the Capture the Flag competition held at Defcon each year. It's organized and run by the Ghetto Hackers. Q) What are the closing ceremonies? Why should I stay and watch it?


A) The Closing Ceremonies are the Climax to Defcon. It's where prizes are awarded to winners of contests as well as The DarkTangent giving a wrap of the event and an outlook onto the future of it.

Q) Can I get Internet at Defcon? Is there wireless access at Defcon? Who should I not connect to, and what should I be connecting to?


A) Use Internet at Defcon at your own risk. You will be sniffed. You have been warned. You may end up on the Wall of Sheep.

Q) Why is the media in Defcon? Why are they asking me questions? Should i tell them about all my WaReZ and my 'sploitz and 0dayz?


A) The Media is at Defcon because the media likes to know what is going on too. If you want to look like a loser and be laughed at by everyone you know, then go tell the media all your secrets.
